Toby has been waiting in his foster home for quite a while for his perfect family to come along, but he’s been using that time to practice lots of new things and now he’s almost like a whole new dog! 

He now knows sit, stay, and come and his recall is getting really consistent! Toby arrived to GPPR with severe separation anxiety and the trick to managing it is a daily anxiety pill and having a canine friend home with him all the time. He’ll still need a family who understands that this will require ongoing training and patience, but he feels a lot better these days. Toby is housetrained and has learned to ring a bell to go outside, but he does have a little bit of an issue with compulsive water drinking, so his water intake will need to be monitored and he will benefit from a consistent potty break schedule. He has learned to crate easily for a treat and hangs out in there with the door open when he’s sleepy. He is, however, past his destructive chewing years, so he can be trusted loose in the house when his family is away (once he has become friends with the resident pets). Toby gets along great with dogs of all sizes, and although he hasn’t been tested with cats, we hear he gets along with them too! He is very gentle with kids, but sometimes he forgets his manners and tries to grab food out of hands, so he might not be a good brother for little ones. 

Toby is just the perfect loyal buddy and he’s happy to go with the flow as long as he gets to spend time with his people. He loves to snuggle up on his bed and lounge around all day just as much as he loves playing ball outside and running laps with his dog buddies. He loves to meet new people and has been a huge hit with vets, groomers, and neighbors because he has a sneaky way of leaning in for pets and attention.  I’m sure he’d love to meet you too!  Toby is located in Lincoln, NE.
