Hi, I’m Spike and you can call me Spikey, Spikemeister, or my personal favorite, Captain Love Muffin!   There’s nothing spikey about me… I’m as sweet and as snuggly as they come.  I’m a loving, gentle, 6ish year old boy who has a lot of catching up to do in the companionship department.  I’m exceptionally good with kids of all ages.  I’m good with other dogs too but I don’t mind using my voice when they get too close to my face. 

I would do best in a home where I can be around my people all the time.  I ride like a champ in the car and want to go with you everywhere you go and be with you all the time.  Really… all the time.  Did I mention all the time?  I spent a lot of years being alone and I desperately want to make up for that lonely start in life.  Going solo is hard for me but I am doing well with my stay-by-myself training and have a good, solid base for my new family to build on. 

I’m a little bit out of shape, I’m iffy around cats, and I’m probably the mellowest GSP you’ll ever meet.  I’m a gentleman and am soooooo good in the house (though I’m probably a little bit too interested in what’s up on the kitchen counter).  I can be trusted in the house without being crated, which is a good thing because I’ve had some bad crating experiences and hate going into them.  Best of all, I make really cute little grunting noises when I’m getting loved-up.  I sit nicely for my dinner and I am training to sit, lay down, come, heel, wait, and shake on command.  I’ll lie quietly beside your bed every night and will happily be the first thing you trip over every morning.

I like squeaky toys, treats, and wiggling around on my back (but mostly I just like staring lovingly into your eyes).  I am not an off-leash dog… I’ll need some kind of fencing or tie-out system to keep me safe at home.  Do you need a Captain Love Muffin in your life?  If so, you’ll love my sweet-little-self and I already love you more than you’ll ever know.
