Poor Gunner stands out a bit on our website. He came to GPPR before we narrowed our scope back down to just German Shorthairs. For this reason the poor guy isn't getting enough eyes on him! Please help us spread the word about this wonderful, smart, motivated boy!
*Gunner is available for adoption to the right home outside our region, but must be picked up by his adopters in Omaha, Nebraska.*
Gunner has been living with a foster family since November of 2022. He arrived to the rescue as a pup with minimal training and has since received much love, attention, and guidance to prepare him for his forever home! Gunner is now house trained, crate trained, and snuggle trained – ready to be loved and provide love to his new family.
Gunner gained consistent exposure to children, dogs, and visiting adults. He loves playing joyfully with other dogs and has become best friends with the neighbor’s Labrador, but would be perfectly happy as an only dog too! Gunner is a great sleeper and has drastically improved on his crate skills over the months. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who loves attention, getting pets, and playing fetch.
Gunner is also a funny and goofy boy! The neighborhood knows him as the dog who likes to jump during his walks. He gets so excited and LEAPS into the air with joy . He has improved significantly with sitting and taking direction as he is very treat-motivated. We use a “sit” command to calm and redirect him. Gunner has a ton of energy and when properly directed, he’s a lot of fun!
He was originally surrendered for not liking kids; however, he has since been properly socialized and spends lots of time with kids ages 4-16. New homes should be aware of the jumping/excitement when around smaller children. He’s a young boy with a ton more potential and would love a family who will continue to work with him on more advanced skills. Through the rescue, Gunner has even done some work with a professional dog trainer while in foster care. These tips and tricks will be passed on to his new family as well!
Gunner is ready to provide you with so much love and affection. He’s an energetic boy who would love to go on adventures with his active family.
