Hi everyone, I’m Petey, an 8-month old spunky pointer puppy. I’m a very sweet, loving boy, who just wants to be near my people (some may say I’m a Velcro dog). I was a little shy and timid at first, but I've started warming up really quickly since settling into my foster home. Strangers aren't nearly as scary now and once I warm up my tail wags like crazy.

I’ve been in my foster home for a month and am now house trained. I go to the door and whine or jump when I need to go out. I’m also crate trained. Every once in a while I'll whine or bark in my crate, but 90% of the time I relax and take a nap. 

My foster mom says that I’m a smart boy who learns quickly. I’ve learned ‘sit’ and that leashes mean a fun adventure is coming. I am still a “typical puppy” meaning I need someone who will keep working with me on training. When I get all my pointer puppy energy out mom says I'm the bestest boy!

I love playing with other dogs. My foster brother is a young lab, and we wrestle and chase each other all the time. If he’s being lazy, I’ll give him a bark or two to instigate some play. I also live with two smaller humans who are pretty cool. I’m nice to them, but sometimes accidentally scratch them when I’m excited to see them. 

One other thing I need to work on is my off leash skills. When I go outside without a leash on all my senses turn on and my ears tend to turn off. I love to runnnnnnnn and don’t really care what the humans say or do if there’s fresh air to be enjoyed. Foster mom says I’ll need some training to be “off leash certified.” I’m just having a good time and loving the fall weather!
