I’m Daphne, and brand-new to GPPR.  My foster parents are calling me a, “GSP”, but I’m pretty sure I’m human. They certainly don’t know what they are talking about! I sit on the couch and sleep in the bed with them.  Silly foster parents, I do everything that you do!

I’m a sweet and charismatic 4-year-old, lady who loves children and other big dogs.  I have 3 large foster siblings, 2 GSPs and a yellow lab, and I love them!  When my foster mom took me to a pet store, I loved seeing children.  I wagged my tail and calmly sat as they pet me.  I knew not to jump on them. I was very interested in the little dogs, and my foster mom thought that I might play a little rough when them, so she recommends that I meet little dogs before I go home and live with them.  I like to chase cats, but I haven’t hurt one.  It’s probably important that I meet the cats, too.

I am very athletic and can easily jump over a 4-foot fence.  My former owner said that I would stay close to his house when I ran away, but I would be gone for 2-3 hours each time.  Usually, I would jump the fence to visit my human siblings at their elementary school or chase various critters.  My former owner said that once I am focused on critters, I forget my training and how to listen.  It’s very important for me to go to a home with a secure 6-foot fence.  My foster parents have 2 acres, and I spend hours sprinting around, jumping bushes, smelling scents, and trying to flush out the critters.  After a long day of being a dog, I like to curl up on the couch with a warm blanket and cuddle with my foster mom.

I am housebroken and when I lived with my former owner, he allowed me to run the house while he was gone.  My foster parents are keeping me in a crate while they are at work to keep me safe.  They have left me out while they were gone, for small increments of time with my foster siblings, and I have done just fine.  I don’t necessarily love my crate, but I am calm and quiet when crated.  I lie down and anxiously await my foster family to return home from work so that I can come out and play.

I do very well in the car.  My foster parents put down a dog bed and blanket, and I lie down and enjoy the ride.  When my foster mom puts a leash on me, I pull, at first, but I try to listen when she says, “heel”. I know how to “sit” and I’m working on “stay”.

Daphne is located in NE.
